Yesterday evening barcamp in Warsaw took place (http://osec.pl).
There were two sessions:
- bacula - "Enterprise backup solution for free" presented by me ;-)
- changes in RHEL 5.4
There are many changes in RHEL 5.4, one of the most interesting is replacing XEN by KVM. Hmm we will see how it is going to work but there are some advantages of such replacement:
- open source community around xen is almost dead
- virtual domains in KVM are OS processes which makes management and monitoring very simple
- even in beta version it just works
- there are significant changes in memory management which can save a lot of RAM, especially in case of virtualization
I is still worth to invest in MySQL ? Yes, yes, yes.
Yesterday I passed MySQL 5.0 DBA part I and II exams ;-).
One can say this is not typical for storage specialist to pass DBA exams, but why not ?
